Staten Island 4 the People is once again taking to the streets of Staten Island on Saturday, October 17th and we invite you to join. This time, we are walking to the steps of Borough Hall from three separate routes on Staten Island in the following locations:
Stapleton – Starting Point 1
Tompkinsville – Starting Point 2
Livingston – Starting Point 3
These routes will meet up together at the steps of Borough Hall for a festive rally. This walk and rally represents Staen Island coming together from every side to make our voices heard. Our No Kings goal is to send the message to all people that we must vote early and vote in person if possible to save our democracy. Each route is designed to be downhill or flat surfaced, accessible, and near the one mile mark in distance. There will be further instructions after you are registered about choosing a route and about meeting instructions. Bring your amazing signage about voting and your high spirit!!
**We decide who represents us. We decide what comes next.**
For more than a year, millions of people have come together to reject the idea that power belongs to kings, billionaires, or politicians who believe they are above the people and the law.
Now, we are taking the next step, turning people power into voter power. Unlike previous No Kings actions, No Kings: Vote Early, is not purely a protest. Instead, on October 17th, it’s a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing **our community** together to make a plan to vote early and ensuring every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voice heard.
Staten Island is tired of the struggle and ready to ensure that the power really does belong to the people. We will make certain that no one person gets to decide our leaders before the voters do! Join us!
*No Kings: Vote Early events are nonpartisan and are designed to increase participation from all eligible voters.*
*A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.*
Save the date and look for details, map, and itinerary in the coming days!!!
