NO KINGS VOTE EARLY – LAHAINA will be held from 12 to 2, on OCTOBER 17, BESIDE THE HONOAPI’ILANI HIGHWAY (Hawaii Route 30) IN THE SHADED GRASSY AREA IN FRONT OF THE PARKING LOT AT LAHAINA SAFEWAY, THE CANNERY MALL AND LONGS. Thank you for signing up to attend this Visual Event that supports our Democracy, our Constitution and urges people to Vote and to Vote Early. Please bring your own water, seats, signs, flags, costumes, our positive attitude and energy as well as a can or box of food to donate to the Maui Food Bank when you come – like so many others are doing in their towns. I shall bring extra poster boards and canvases and magic markers to the event in case you don’t have time to go to Longs and purchase them yourself. Everyone is invited. I really look forward to seeing everyone there. There is a public bathroom at The Cannery Mall. Out of respect for the shoppers and shop owners at this shopping center, I urge those of you who are able to walk to park across the street at the larger parking lot that is not so crowded.
We need someone to volunteer to be a Peacekeeper at this event, and I would welcome someone to volunteer to co-host this with me. Mahalo, Mary
**We decide who represents us. We decide what comes next.**
For more than a year, millions of people have come together to reject the idea that power belongs to kings, billionaires, or politicians who believe they are above the people and the law.
Now, we are taking the next step, turning people power into voter power. Unlike previous No Kings actions, No Kings: Vote Early, is not purely a protest. Instead, on October 17th, it’s a day of nonpartisan voter participation: we are bringing **our community** together to make a plan to vote early and ensuring every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voice heard.
Because no one person gets to decide our leaders before voters do. On October 17th, join us in local events across the country as we get out the early vote and say it loud: no thrones, no crowns, no kings.
*No Kings: Vote Early events are nonpartisan and are designed to increase participation from all eligible voters.
*A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.*
